Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Solid Wood Products different?

Solid Wood Products builds boards with an engineering-first approach. Every design decision—thickness, grain orientation, finish, and tolerances—is made to improve durability, stability, and everyday usability.

Our goal is to replace temporary kitchen tools with permanent ones.

Where are your boards made?

All Solid Wood Products boards are made in Canada. Design, fabrication, finishing, and quality checks are handled locally to ensure consistency and long-term performance.

Are your boards solid wood?

Yes. Every board is made from solid hardwood. We do not use veneers, plywood cores, or laminated substrates.

Why do boards vary in color or grain?

Wood is a natural material. Grain patterns, color variation, and subtle markings are inherent characteristics of solid hardwood and are not considered defects.

These variations are part of what makes each board unique.

Do you offer custom sizes or configurations?

If you don’t see the size or configuration you’re looking for, email us with your request. Where feasible, we’re happy to review custom requirements and provide a quote.

How thick are your boards?

Board thickness varies by product line and intended use. Thickness is selected based on structural stability, weight, and longevity—not aesthetics alone.

Specific dimensions are listed on each product page.

How do I care for my board?

We recommend:

  • Hand washing only with mild soap and warm water
  • Drying immediately after washing
  • Regular conditioning with food-safe board oil or board butter

Do not soak, place in a dishwasher, or expose to prolonged moisture or heat.

How often should I oil my board?

Oil your board whenever it looks dry or dull—typically every 3–4 weeks with regular use.

Climate and humidity may affect how often conditioning is required.

Can I cut raw meat on your boards?

Yes. Properly cleaned and maintained hardwood boards are safe for food preparation, including raw meat.

Clean promptly after use and allow the board to dry fully.

Are your boards food safe?

Yes. All finishes and adhesives used are food safe once cured.

Will my board crack or warp?

Solid wood naturally responds to its environment. Proper care—avoiding soaking, excessive heat, and uneven moisture—greatly reduces the risk of cracking or warping.

Boards damaged by improper care are not covered under warranty.

What is your return policy?

All sales are final. Because each board is allocated material and production time at purchase, we do not offer refunds.

Store credit may be offered at our discretion. Please review our full Return & Exchange Policy for details.

What should I do if my board arrives damaged?

Inspect your order within 24 hours of delivery. Any damage or issues must be reported by email within this inspection window.

Claims submitted after 24 hours cannot be accepted.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping timelines vary by product and availability. Current lead times and shipping details are listed on our Shipping & Delivery page and updated regularly.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. International orders may be subject to customs duties, taxes, or brokerage fees, which are the responsibility of the customer.
